Some of the best fashion habits and tips can be learned from the men in your life…and surprisingly not the ones who have boyfriends of their own. Though they would hate to admit it, men practice some pretty good shopping habits and clothing habits that we as women might want to pick up on.

 1. Instead of riding the waves of trends, buy a couple well made classic pieces. 

One of weaknesses is that we tend to buy a lot of trendy clothing, and too few well made staples. We dispose of clothing far to quickly. This lead to a large credit card bill, a overflowing closest and nothing to wear the next season. Instead of buying that trendy baby doll, buy a classic dress well fitting dress that can be worn for years. For everyday, try stocking up on well made basics,  a beautifully constructed shirt white shirt, a cashmere sweater, a black blazer a little black dress, a great pair of jeans and some great polos. Add a little girly touch with pearls.

2. Men’s wear really is elegant.

 It is. Coco, Marlene and Katherine agree.  Some of the most elegant things a woman can wear, especially for business are inspired by men’s wear. Beautiful button down shirts with french cuffs by the British company Thomas Pink, a khaki trench coat, a black pants suit. Just because you are going for men’s wear,does not mean you need to masculine. Try suits with a well tailored, unboxy fit with rounded shoulders and a nipped in waist, try beautiful womanly cufflinks, or traditional oxford shirts in colors like baby blue and pink and accent it all with pearls, diamond studs and a beautiful watch. .3. Wear the hell of out everything you own.

Buy what you love, this means, buy something that is comfortable, that feels great against your skin and something you will wear until it can be worn no more.

5. Save some money for the 47” plasma. 

No impulsive buying.  This is a hard for some people, but there is a reason why He can afford that great suit, and that 47” plasma TV. Because they don’t make every trip to the mall an opportunity to buy the next trendy thing. They buy when they need to, and then get out of the store. 

 6. Comfort, comfort, comfort.

Clothing should be comfortable. Period.

7. Forget the size.

Sizing is a illusion. Don’t pay attention to the little number on the tag, it means nothing. What means something is how you look in the garment. 

8. Loose the makeup 

As far as most men are concerned, they would happy if you did anyway with three quarters of what is in your makeup bag. Wear only to enhance your natural features.

9. Ditch the fashion magazines

.Most men don’t read fashion magazines. They wear what they like and what they are comfortable in.  Who cares what Paris Hilton is wearing? Buy the dress that looks good on you.
