Stylish moments in Hollywood Part One: Edith Head and Breakfast at Tiffanys
Not many will dispute that the 1961 film ” Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is one of the most fashionable movies in film history. When we think of chic women, we think of Audrey Hepburn, but the woman truly behind many of Hepburn’s looks was a woman who looked like a cross between Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest and Bettie Page. With her conservative clothing, black hair always pulled tightly back from her face, blunt bangs and dark glasses one would hardly have thought she would have been the costume designer for some of Hollywood’s most stylish movies including “Breakfast At Tiffanys” and Sabrina, both starring Audrey Hepburn. In her impressive career, she also costumed such ladies as Mae West, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Ginger Rodges, Grace Kelly, Kim Novak, Doris Day Etc. Her long career took her from the early 1930’s-1976. She was nominated for oscars over 20 times. Breakfast At Tiffany’s is a masterpiece in terms of style, as the movie moves along each outfit that Audrey Hepburn puts on looks better and better. The film which was made in 1961, has an elegant after taste of the 1950’s, especially seen in Patricia Neal’s character, and the fun chicness of the 1960’s. Here are some of the highlights from the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s
